Tornado Near Ft.Lauderdale Florida


Late in the afternoon on the 28th, a rare weather event unfolded in Broward
County Florida near Ft. Lauderdale. Due to the seabreeze's interaction with a
nearby front, a tornadic supercell formed. This supercell was impressive by
any standards, and spawned a tornado in Tamarac. Damage was light and no injuries
were reported. Below is the radar imagery of this event and the Tornado warning
which includes the observation of the tornado.

...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 230 PM EST FOR
NORTHEASTERN BROWARD COUNTY...


AT 206 PM EST...TRAINED WEATHER SPOTTERS REPORTED A TORNADO IN
TAMARAC AROUND 2 PM. THE STORM THAT REMAINS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A
TORNADO WAS LOCATED NEAR PORT EVERGLADES...OR ABOUT NEAR FORT
LAUDERDALE...MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 20 MPH.


IN ADDITION TO THE TORNADO...THIS STORM IS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING GOLF
BALL SIZE HAIL AND WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.
