Tropical Storm Debby (2006) Archive

This is the Hurricane Warning
archive of tropical storm Debby.
The best data available was used
to create this archive, in order to
make it as educational as possible.

Meteorological Analysis

Debby originated from a strong tropical wave which moved off the coast of
Africa on August 20th. The wave organized rapidly, and a broad surface
circulation with banding was visible from satellite. By the 21st, a tropical
depression had formed. The tropical depression passed about 100 nautical
miles to the south and west of the Cape Verde Islands, and brought stormy
conditions to the southern islands. The depression became tropical storm
Debby on the 23rd, and reached its maximum wind speed of 50 mph.
Debby however was moving through dry air associated with the Saharan
Air Layer, and didn't strengthen much. An upper level trough interacted
with Debby on the 25th, and shear increased dramatically. By the 26th
Debby became a remnant low. The remnant low fully dissipated by
August 28th.
